Kaftan Dresses – Then & Now

While some of us like to flaunt our hard- achieved perfect figure, few of us may sometimes get mood swings and want to let ourselves feel loose and free! Traditionally, the Kaftans were a popular outfit of the Ottoman empire and Moroccan race. But, slowly and soundly, women stole and stylized this fashion variant in their own way and made it raging - a never aging trending outfit in the last few decades. A variant of tunic or robe, the Kaftan Dresses were into fashion thousands of years ago and were worn as overdress or coats, made out of cashmere, silk, wool or cotton.

Things have changed in the 21st century and the Kaftan Dresses are now better imagined as loose fitting, fashionable and light garments that have undoubtedly become women- centric. The idea was probably taken up in the contemporary era because of its simplicity and comforting character, which is matchless with any other dressing concept.

Kaftan dresses are free flowing fabrics with a draping effect that can let the breeze go in and out and help your body stay cool. Just not for the women with a perfect body shape, Kaftan dresses and tops are also efficient in camouflaging those extra layers of fat on plus size women. These are designed in the form of dresses, short tops, knee length or ankle length garments, which can be picked up as casual or formal wears. Nevertheless,  it also makes a unique outfit for parties and grand occasions as well.at home, Kaftans can also be worn as maxis or as relaxing ankle length loose dresses.

Most Kaftans are either made up of georgette or cotton materials, but some others like the satin ones makes the overall finish, more classy. Some may also seldom spot out some velvet and brocade kaftans. They come in colorful, vibrant or monotonous patterns that can be paired up with a waist belt or a sash to make the appearance more stunning and charismatic. The long sleeves of the Kaftans also prevent you from getting tanned during the prickly summers.
